Greenleaf Road Baptist Church
Open Design Competition to designers living, working, or studying within Waltham Forest.
A prize of £500 for the winning design. (£250 runner up)- Subject to cost and experience they will be commissioned to also supervise or fabricate the design.
Brief
The Church is looking for designers to offer practical solutions to improve the security to our front boundary wall and the return wall adjacent to the new flats to the righthand side of the site on Greenleaf Road. The design must be attractive and welcoming but also address the anti -social behaviour that we have been experiencing over the last few years and to restrict access for unauthorised users to the car park and paved area in front of the church. We are asking for your help as this is a difficult problem to resolve
The design should be adaptable to allow for a future pedestrian gate which would need to be fully wheelchair compliant with a min clear width of 1000mm.This will be located on the righthand side of the existing car park gate.
A new pair of gates to the main entrance doors, which should be welcoming and visually attractive.
We would like to retain the existing wall but are happy for this to be altered and amended ,especially the removal of the decorative infill concrete blocks.
The design must comply with health and safety and should take account of planning requirements regarding a max height of 1.5m. The Church will make a planning application for approval in conjunction with the winner of the competition.
No access is required as the wall is fully visible from Greenleaf Road.
